HOW TO BUNNYHOP

Before we begin, It is recommended and easier to learn with a mouse with mwheel than it is with a single button. The mwheel does give an advantage, and is used by many players, including myself. The mwheel is used because it performs like a long button, that in its time scrolled, it’s doing a series of jumps, even in the air. So the aim is to try scroll before landing and allowing the mwheel to find the perfect time to jump.

Jumping

Jumping is a critical part of the bunnyhop, the quicker you jump, the increased acceleration given. There is a distinctive landing point on the ground, it might seem you haven’t touched the ground as you near it, but you may actually have. So try jumping earlier and earlier until you have missed jumped, and being aware of the jump timings. The timings of your jumps will vary upon the speed of which you are travelling. So the faster you become, the quicker your jump timings will be, and the quicker you’ll be scrolling that mwheel.

Forward key

One of the most confusing things to a learner is the forward key. The forward key is not used except for the beginning of your jumps (strafe can be used to begin jumps) and/or to repair mistakes, but is generally not used. The reason being is the forward key limits your manoeuvrability in the air. In-between your jumps, you're in the air, and the physics of the game allows you to strafe and change directions. Taking advantage of this, players are able to perform many tricks like curving round after a concjump or turning corners instead of having to stop then turn.

Space jump

Lets begin with you in tfc, as any class. Now do a series of forward straight jumps, letting go of your movement keys, and keeping the jumping pace as you were. You’ll find yourself jumping forward, like scraps of metal floating in space, moving forward until something interacts with it.

Strafing

When you’re satisfied with your jumping, change to map cz2. Join either side as HWG and locate the crate above the grenade bag. Using your strafe keys and mouse to steer, jump around the crate, over the gap and back around the opposite side. Practice until both sides are comfortable.

Example:

Once you’re comfortable with strafing and jumping simultaneously, begin bunnyhopping in creative paths, using any strafe key, jumping in any direction of your choice and using the mouse to steer.

Crouch bunnyhop

Crouch bunnyhop is not all that different from bunnyhoping normally. It’s mainly aimed to jump in lowered areas, but in most cases to be enjoyable. The jump times will increase, as you are lower to the ground. Crouching will also limit your air manoeuvrability to a degree if held too long during a higher jump of any method. Release before entering a sharp turn.

Keep practising and all should come naturally

Good luck :D
